Portugal Euro Coins 2013 "250th Anniversary of the Clerigos Tower" €2 Commemorative Coin

According to the Forum MuntHunter next year's €2 commemorative coin from Portugal will be dedicated to the 250 years since the Clerigos Tower was built. This tower was the tallest structure in Portugal when completed in 1763 and as the main feature of the city's skyline, ships used it as a guide when coming into Cais da Ribeira. It's a remarkable baroque landmark designed by the Italian architect Nasoni, who also designed the adjoining church. It has become a popular tourist attraction for the aerial view of the city from the top

they could just show the top half so it will have more detail on it and you'll still be able to tell that its a clock tower

i agree - in order for the coin to look nice they have to show a detail taken from the tower

if they try to show the whole tower (similar to Hamburg) then it wont look nice at all

Thanks for the news!! So... we already have some info for 2013.

Ar1us is right, it could be a risk. Till now PT 2€CC designs have been quite original and well done.

Hmmmm.... Tall and narrow building.... I hope that the coin will not look empty in an effort to capture the height of the tower. Remember the 2008 Germany cc (Hamburg).... So empty!
