Malta will mint Standard €2 Dated 2010

October 2011 – Circulation €2 coins dated 2010 will be available for sale in rolls of 25 coins from the Central Bank of Malta

Hi, here in Germany it can be that there are also coins minted one or more years later then the "year" minted on it, this is because it is not the point when a coin is minted - the point is when there was the order to mint it. This means that the order could be in 2005 and the coins are minted in 2007 for example. Possibly Malta (the mint) has already minted the coins in 2010 and they are still "deep" in the bank tresure....

So according to the source, we will only have €2 2010 in circulation and not coins with 2011. Another strange thing is that they are saying that rolls bearing year 2008 are available for sale. When i last went to buy rolls in 2009, they only gave me 2 rolls of 1c 2c & 5c saying that these were the last.

not announced yet but would be interesting to know

perhaps the  coins will get a new mint mark - so far Maltese standard coins have letter F as mint mark in the 6 o' clock star

maybe they minted the coins last year and kept them reserved but i dont think so otherwise they would have sold them last year
