Malta Euro Coins "BU Set including €2 Commemorative Coin 2011"

Updated 18.OCT.2011

The Central Bank of Malta is issuing a new euro coin set dated 2011 which will incorporate the eight Maltese euro coins, designed by Noel Galea Bason. The set also includes a €2 commemorative coin, bearing the inscription ‘First Elected Representatives – 1849’. This coin was designed by Ġanni Bonnici and is the first in a series of five €2 commemorative coins commemorating Malta’s constitutional history.

The set, which will be in a distinctive box, will also include a replica coin of the Punic period, the original of which is currently held in the Bank’s Currency Museum collection.

The set will be on sale from Wednesday 19 October 2011 at the price of €35 including VAT from the Malta Coins Distribution Centre at the main building of the Central Bank of Malta.

The Central bank of Malta is distributing a new certificate to those who are buying the BU set. The first certificate says that the coins were designed by Noel Galea Bason however it fails to list the designer of the 2 euro commemorative coin, thus, the new certificate lists this designer and there is also a slight change in Punic coin description. Both the old and new certificates have another mistake in the diameter of the 2 euro coin which is listed as 27.75mm when actually it is 25.75

i dont think the set will be more valuable merely because there are mistakes on the certificate especially if all the certificates have the same mistakes. Yes it is a shame the a new certificate was issued and it still had mistakes on it :D

Hello , is there going to be any refund from the Central Bank for all those who had bought this set ?

Or is it  going to be more valuable since there are two mistakes in the same issue !

Insomma din haqqa tkun nominata ghal fuq  ONLY IN MALTA .com :-)

:-) and is known  how much certificate is "first" with mistake or not - I think it'll be hard to say-but it'll be good for collector's error

today i got the 2 euro commemorative coin from Malta and it looks much better than on the images because it has a special 3D effect but unfortunately i cannot capture this beauty on camera - so you have to see the coin
