Malta Euro Coins 2012 "Ten Years Euro Cash" €2 Commemorative Coin Just Out

Today Friday 30 March 2012, the Central Bank of Malta will be issuing the first coin of its 2012 Coin Programme - the €2 coin commemorating ‘’Ten years of the Euro’’. The coin will be issued in circulation quality in rolls of 25 coins each. As announced by the Bank on the 3 February the coin will be made available in limited quantities to those who have submitted an order on the Bank’s prescribed form in the period 3 February to 20 February. It will not be available for sale over the counter. The Bank would like to emphasise that, in view of the fact that the number of orders received substantially exceeded the amount of coins that the Bank is permitted to issue, the Bank is not in a position to fully meet all requests submitted in the order forms.

The Bank will be contacting all those who placed their orders to inform them of their allocation, the means of payment and the dates on which they will be requested to collect them.

Now all the countries have issued this 2 euro commemorative coin

i hope that next year the bank will increase the mintage volumes - these coins are becoming good news for the dealers only - and not all the dealers but only those dealers close to the bank :S

People, wake up, since the banks can not expect anything positive.
You must forget your ordered rolls ....

It could have gone so well, that each maintains its roots in the European Union, but joint issue the same day, and circulation(mintage), similar for all.

@Robi

I would prefer if the EU would issue the common coins with no names of the countries and thus they would issue only 1 coin for all the eurozone

Having 17 different designs would be nice if seen from a numismatic perspective but the coin is issued by all the eurozone countries to commemorate a common value or identity thus having 1 common design would strengthen the common identity!
