An officer at the Central Bank of Malta has confirmed that the bank is still planning to issue the first Maltese national €2 Commemorative as planned in October. The coin will first be sold in a BU set including all the Maltese standard coins dated 2011 - this set should be out in the second half of this month. Few days later (possibly 1 week) the rolls of the €2 Commemorative coin will be available for sale. The officer also confirmed that the bank is considering putting a limit on the number of coins that one can buy and also said that they might put some of them for sale online to cater for the foreign collectors.
The 2 euro commemorative coin in UNC and proof versions together with the BU set 2011 are already on display at the central bank of Malta numismatic museum, however, unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures.
Today the Bank informed that although they do not have a fixed issue date for the 2 euro commemorative coin 2011 - it is likely that it will be issued around the 15th November,2011
