Italy Euro Coins - In 2001, just before euro cash was introduced, a numismatic shop in Italy that had starter-kits containing Italian euro coins had noticed that some of the 1 cent in the kits had the design that was supposed to be on the 2 cents. The owner of the shop found 6 coins with this error. This news made headlines and the police had seized these coins as the Museum of the Mint claimed ownership of these coins. Soon after the shop owner who had originally found these coins, opened a case at the court and only few days ago, the court decided in favor of the shop owner. These coins have now been returned to the owner and they will be auctioned with a starting price of €2,500 - but watch out, according to the newspaper La Stampa, there are some of these error coins in circulation.
