Halloween Competition - We Have a Winner

Congratulations to Leandros from Belgium - he is the winner of the Halloween Competition which ended today 30th October at 17:00 CET. The top 20 members were saved and then a number from 1 to 20 was drawn using the online software from the website random.org - the number 8 was drawn meaning that Leandros won the prize (San Marino Standard Coins in Proof) as he was in position 8.

Now in order to be a fair play for everyone - I would like to ask all the members that if they have any evidence of SPAM by this winner to let me know only at myeurohobby@gmail.com - would we get evidence we would invalidate the winner and choose another one. If I don't receive any emails by tomorrow 20:00 CET the prize will be posted to Leandros on Tuesday morning.

Background

Originally this competition was supposed to go to the member that is number 1 in the ranking and who brings the most new members to  the website. Alas, this was creating a lot of spam and some weeks ago we had sent a warning that this might result in the suspension of the competition and had suspended some members from the competition. In the last days the number of SPAM had surged which resulted in lot of our members in  either quiting the website or blocking emails - so we had to take immediate actions about this and instead of closing the competition for good we decided to change the rules so no one can accuse the euroHOBBY team for using this as an excuse not to send the prize. The rules were changed to stop the spam that was going on, as then for one to win didn't have to be number 1.

In the past we had similar competitions and never had this problem but now that the number of the members had increased we believe it would be difficult to hold similar competitions in the future as this lead to wars between members which is the last thing the euroHOBBY team want to see.

Robi thanks for the nice comments

most probably that was the last competition - as i cannot afford to go into this hassle again for something that was with good intention

Collectors friends, now that the spotlights have been finally switched off from the competition, I'd like to congratulate the webmaster for the way he managed the situation. Complaints, fightings, tricky plays, spammings, cancellations.... not easy to put together more than 1500 people from all over Europe (and more...). Clearly impossible to make everybody happy! But I think euroHOBBY managed it well, or at least as best as it was possible.

This experience should learn all of us to be honest, to play fair and (mainly) to be calmer, respectful and a bit more mature in writtten reactions.

I'm still firmly convinced euroHOBBY is the best euro website (and believe me, I surf a lot around.... :-). Let's all continue to give it a positive and constructive contribution.

Let's not fight over this ;)

Congrats Leandros!

Can you post some pics once you get your prize? I think that BU set is beautiful and I'd love to see some pictures of it :)

Leandros, you did not respond to my mail.
For others, if you do not like the competition, do not participate. Leaving the site is no solution. The site will improve with our joint efforts.

People angry to each other, people who will never swap again because of this... and everything for a set of coins?!?!?!

Leandros - you're welcome, for me you're unmoral winner - you're tearful child who can only complain

for me it's funny that few days before the end of this competition sent invitations for joining groups from some members increased abnormaly. This showed some members would like to reach the top but in the other hand this was annoying - more than 10 mails from one member refer as spamming, so also some members left the euroHOBBY website. I think also it would have been better to follow the rules strictly! Maybe there will be no competions in the future because of that reason...

Although you have a decision I disagree it so I respect it. Definitely for me Leandros isn't moral winner. He was the winner I will not comment , because I was not worth any words for him.
