The euroHOBBY website is pleased to announce the Halloween Competition. The winner of this competition will win a euro standard set in proof version from San Marino dated 2009. The prize has market value of around €125. Postage will also be fully paid by the euroHOBBY website.

The prize will be drawn on the 30th October, 2011 at 17:00 CET and the member with most points will be given the prize. Points can be collected in 2 ways; Activity on euroHOBBY website and by Suggesting new members (these 2 ways will be explained below)

Activity is measure automatically by the website. These are some of the functions that contribute to activity ranking

  1. Taking part in the forum or blog discussions by replying
  2. Clicking on the Like Buttons
  3. Opening New Topics
  4. Inviting New members
  5. Making New Friendships
  6. Commenting on other Members Pages
  7. Using the in-house email
  8. Using the Chatroom
  9. and much more .......

You can check your activity here

On the 30th October (at 17:00 CET) the top 10 members will have their ranking converted into points. Member in position number 1 will get 100 points, that in 2 will get 90 and will continue to decrease 10 points till the 10th position. So member in 9th position gets 20 points and that in 10th gets 10 points. Those in the 11th position or more down will not get any points

Suggesting New Members

The other way of getting points is by suggesting new members. You can use the invite function here to invite new people. When they try to sign up, one of the questions that have to answer is From where they heard about the euroHOBBY website - there it is important that these new members write your username as it appears on this website - this will be our only way to know that this new member subscribed thanks to you.

We will make a list on this topic of all those members that had suggested this website to new visitors and how many of their suggested guests signed up. Then the member with made most guests signing up will get 100 points  - same points system as for the activity explained above - in brief that that come in 9th position gets 90 points, 8th position 80 points and so on.

Who will be the Winner?

At the end of the competition we will be merge your points collected via the activity system and via the suggesting new members and the member with most points will win the prize.

Rules related to the competition:

  1. All postage fees will be paid by the euroHOBBY website. Thus the winner wont pay anything. Postage is for free only to people that have an address in Europe (Residents of Europe) - those outside Europe can still win the prize but have to pay postage.
  2. Do not spam - irrelevant messages will be deleted and if they are consistent the member will risk a ban. Do not create multiple accounts we have the tools to detect this and again if we detect wrong doing in this member will risk a ban.
  3. Competition will end on 30th October,2011 at 17:00 CET
  4. In case we have 2 members with same amount of points and both come first, the member that suggested the most new members will win the prize.

Hallo swappers,

I want to congratulate Leandros for his win of the competition.

Also I was very happy that Joe brought out new rules to stop the spanning, respect Joe.

Now a remark for Ctirad: blamming a 15 year old is easy, but maybe you should have a look in the mirror. You won the previous competition and wanted to win this again, I call this very greedy. Secondly I had plenty of emails from your part to join groups, is this not called spamming? Those groups were created to communicate in native language, I have to say and appolagise that I don't speak all the Eurozone languages, I know this is a lack in my knowledge.

Best regards,

PS. Hopefully not a competition like this again!!!!!!!!!

Courageous decision. The sole elimination of the "spammers" would have made me and johny ahead (with no suggestion for him) but nevermind: congratulations Leandros! running this kind of competition is difficult for the staff, you have to make choice, and keep a balance between have an active site and push members to click everywhere. Next time will be better :)

the number drawn is 8

meaning that Leandros won the Competition  - Congratulations

The prize will be sent to the member on Tuesday so you have one day chance to invalidate the winner by giving evidence of spamming - if you have such evidence please send details at . If I receive no reports the prize will be sent to the winner on Tuesday.

Dear all,

after the huge number of complaints that I had received - i did check the activity and yes there are traces of irregularity - few weeks ago the euroHOBBY team had already sent an email to all the members that if this happens again we will suspend the competition. We didnt suspend the competition for the simple reason not to make anyone think that maybe the reason behind this is that we do not want to send the prize, thus, why we opted to change the rules instead of closing the competition.

By the latest activities some members were receiving over 20 emails of invitations - which on normal activity no one would do that thus why it is considered as spam - some members had even quit our website because of this and other blocked emails

I know that the change in rules can be disappointing to some but we were left with no other option

Comment by euroHOBBY on October 29, 2011 at 15:28

tomorrow we will pick up a member from top 20 - we will post the name of the member here

then you have 1 day chance to invalid the prize by giving evidence of spamming

if i get no reports than the prize go to the winner - if i get evidence of spamming (which was against the rules) we select another winner

this way i think it would be fair for all

Comment by Silvio BONAVIA on October 29, 2011 at 15:21

Not only ctirad sent the invitations its not fair that only he will be punished, its better that all those who sent the invitations will have some points reduced

Comment by Marit on October 29, 2011 at 15:13

And my email was also full too of emails from Ctirad and DIONYSIS for joining the groups.
