France Euro Coins 2013 "50 Years of Franco-German Friendship" €2 Commemorative Coin Just Out

France Euro Coins - France and Germany right now are in celebration mood as the Pact of Elysee is 50 years old. To commemorate this they have decided to issue a joint 2 euro commemorative coin. This is also the first time in the history of the euro to have a common issue between some member states; in the past common issues were only allowed if it was issued by all the states.

The German and French 2 euro coins have the same design, only the French coin will have RF on it for Republique Francaise whereas the German one will have D for Deutschland - they will also have different mint marks.

The coin from France was out yesterday, 21st January 2013 - it was first available through the website of the Monnaie de Paris and is available in proof and BU versions. Today, this coin was published in the official journal of the European Union as per here. Unlike common issues by all the eurozone members, this joint issue was not published in the same article but instead they are being published separately. Ten millions coins of the French version were minted.

But they were being given at face value in WMF without quantity restriction.
On the other hand, German coin off same design was restricted to one pack of 5 mints per person.
Those who wanted more, had to stand again in the queue, although by after noon, the queue was few persons long.
