Dobro došla Hrvatska! Welcome Croatia!

Dobro došla Hrvatska! Welcome Croatia to the European family. Tomorrow, 9th December 2011, Croatia will sign the treaty of accession in Brussels meaning that if all the EU countries ratify this treaty and Croatians say yes in the referendum, Croatia would become the 28th state of the European Union on 1st July 2013 - the same day Andorran euro coins are put in circulation. The earliest possible date for Croatia to adopt the euro is 1st January 2016 but 2017 is more likely.

Welcome Croatia!

Updated 24.Jan.2012

Last Sunday, 66% of the Croatians that voted in a referendum about the EU membership said yes meaning that Croatia will join the European Union on 1st July 2013. If Croatia takes a fast track we could see Croatian euro coins in circulation as early as 1st January 2016

Indeed, it was a negative experience with Norway.
An it was not the only case. The Accession treaty of Denmark in 1973 stated that Denmark and Greenland where IN the Union, where Faer Oer decided to remain OUT. Later on Greenland's people voted in a referendum to leave the Union. It's until now the only case in which the Union lost sq. meters, instead of adding them.

Well if there government is anything like ours was and still is, they will keep voting until they get a yes vote. And we had two referendums that we voted no to.

It is correct. On the 25/9 1972 53,5% voted no, and again 28/11 1994 52,2% voted no.

If the Croatians say no, that would be the first time a nation rejects joining the EU.
