Common €2 2012 - Competition Results Details

According to the European Commission the design that won the competition for the €2 Commemorative coin 2012 - ten years of euro cash, got 11,892 and the 'bee design' that came second got only 411 votes less. The butterfly, European map and boy-girl designs came in the 3rd, 4th and 5th position, respectively.

 

More than 800 designs have been submitted for this competition and more than 35,000 people have voted to selected the best design.

 

The designer of the winner design, Mr Helmut Andexlinger is a professional designer at the Austrian Mint. He had also submitted a design for the euro competition held in 2009 for the 10 Year since the birth of euro. His design had finished in the second place - find an image of this design below

ALL ARE VERY NICE COINS BUT THE WINNING ONE I THINK IT WAS THE BEST AND DESERVES THE VICTORY.CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DESIGNER.

well it all depends if local media advertised it or not - perhaps most of the people didnt even know about it

Although, this number may be a rough estimation of number of euro-collectors within eurozone.

It is quite narrow difference but in spite of that it is a shame how few people voted. Eurozone has 330 million inhabitants and just cca 34 620 voted – which makes 0.0001 %.
