On 30 January 2012, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to the 10‑year anniversary of the introduction of the euro banknotes and coins.
The coin has the following characteristics:
Obverse: several landmark monuments in Romania in an arc and the outline of Romania’s map overlapping them; in the middle, the coat of arms of Romania, the face value – “10 LEI”, the year of issue “2012” and the inscription “ROMANIA”.
Reverse: a composition suggesting the single European currency and its importance to the business community, households, trade, research and industry, and the years “2002”, “2012”; on the outside, the circular inscription “10 ANI DE LA INTRODUCEREA BANCNOTELOR SI MONEDELOR EURO”.
The silver coin, housed in a transparent plastic case, will be accompanied by a leaflet featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.
The leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Head Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage of this numismatic issue is 500 coins.
The selling price of the silver coin, the leaflet included, is lei 365.00, excluding VAT.
The silver coins in the numismatic issue “The 10‑year Anniversary of the Introduction of the Euro Banknotes and Coins” are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The silver coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj‑Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.

Romania also issued the EMU and TOR coins

Permalink Reply by Robi from Brussels on January 29, 2012 at 19:44 I was sure Romania would have issue a coin this year, exactly as in 2007 and 2009. Thanks for the news!
The mintage is very low and the price doesn't seem to be correct. If 365.00 would stand for 365.000, it would be less than 8,4 €....
